At Capella Space, we strive to attract and retain the top experts in their fields to grow and meet the needs of our customers. Our commitment to bring timely and reliable Earth observation data requires the help of people from all aspects of the business, from engineering and marketing, to business operations and legal. Today I’m excited to announce that we’ve hired a new general counsel, Dan Connors, to assist Capella in building its in-house legal and regulatory compliance infrastructure.
Dan brings a breadth of experience to Capella, spending his early career in San Francisco as a lawyer and IBM salesman, then working with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) where he helped write the commission’s first-ever remote sensing license. After holding in-house legal leadership positions with several early-stage companies in the early 2000s, Dan joined the GeoEye team in 2006, where he later advised on all due diligence, merger agreement, combination planning and antitrust compliance matters during DigitalGlobe’s $1.2B acquisition of GeoEye, which closed in January 2013.
Dan has always been drawn to startups where he can see first hand how his work helps to drive revenue, strengthen customer relationships and ultimately generate value for the company. He will work collaboratively with our sales team to develop contracts that meet the needs of our customers and mitigate regulatory and compliance risk.
When we asked what drew Dan to Capella Space specifically, he referenced a strong company culture and executive leadership.
“Payam is extremely transparent and he prides himself on it, which is hard to find in a CEO,” said Connors. “Leadership like that trickles down to the rest of the company, and I’m thrilled to join the team and help drive Capella’s mission of bringing timely and reliable Earth observation data to its customers.”
We are delighted having Dan join the Capella team as we look ahead to launching satellites and providing timely SAR data products to our customers.
