Recent world events in the Red Sea highlight the importance for Maritime Domain Awareness solutions for protecting the global shipping routes that make efficient international trade possible. The Strait of Bab Al Mandab is a strategic waterway with about 10 percent of all global trade passing through it to the Red Sea. Recent attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea by Houthi rebels are causing commercial shipping companies to reroute or pause operations in the Red Sea, which is expected to disrupt supply chains and raise prices. These latest events demonstrate the growing importance of maintaining a persistent view of key trade routes and waterways.

Leveraging Capella’s suite of high-resolution SAR imagery and automated analytics tools, security officials can maintain a persistent view – regardless of nighttime or cloud conditions – to quickly address potential threats and disruptions. Capella’s extended stripmap imagery, coupled with automated Vessel Detection, offers a broad view of what is happening within the maritime domain, including activity within these high-traffic ports and chokepoints.
